A blanket of gloom,
In the fading light,
Holds whimpering men all fallen in fight,
Culloden all sodden with blood and shot blown,
For a king down in London, sitting high on his throne.
Or a prince hid in bushes, all silent alone.
Will somebody tell me, I want to know why,
They came here together hoping others to die.
